MediciTV is a Paris-based world’s leading classical music channel. MediciTV has offered access to the best of classical music to viewers worldwide since 2008. It broadcasts annually more than 150 live events in partnership with the world’s most prestigious venues, opera houses, festivals and competitions, among them the International Tchaikovsky Competition.
Like most OTT channels, MediciTV has been primarily focused on offering its subscribers streaming of live events or separately VOD content. In 2019 MediciTV was selected to be an official media coverage provider of XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. MediciTV’s team was looking to broaden viewers’ experience and decided to launch 24-hour linear news channel The Studio broadcasting major events of the Competition, backstage reports, and other content from the competition archives. That was in addition to streaming up to 20 various live classical performances at a time, and later offering them as VOD library via tch16.medici.tv.
MediciTV turned to Veset to tackle that challenge. Veset Nimbus is a pioneering SaaS linear channel management platform designed with such pop-up linear TV channels with live content in mind.
MediciTV subscribed for two months using AWS and 3QSDN in conjunction with Veset Nimbus. A few days before the event, the team set up the channel with Veset’s assistance. A small team was able to self-manage the challenging task of operating the 24/7 linear channel with multiple live classical music performance inputs with high bitrate AAC audio compression from the competition venues in Moscow and St.Petersburg. Veset Nimbus enabled MediciTV to record live events on the fly, schedule daily playlists combining ongoing live events, replays of the previous days’ events and other pre-recorded content from the archives in the same channel.
MediciTV is looking to use Veset Nimbus again for similar events in the future. Veset is excited to work with an innovative channel like MediciTV and has taken on board MediciTV team’s feedback and as always continuously works on its SaaS platform improvements.
